Your team recently completed a mandatory training program paid for by your new company. Your supervisor asked your team to give a short presentation to the company’s leadership team summarizing the most important or useful items from this training. However, a pandemic has sent all employees into remote work. Your team has been given the option of writing a team report in lieu of giving a presentation. Thank goodness your training included information on how to be effective with team writing.
The company executives are trying to decide which sections of the training they should continue funding for future employee teams and your report/presentation will help them make that decision. You should not recap everything you learned or teach the material; the executives know the training material very well. Instead, identify the items your team found most useful. Your report/presentation needs to address the following questions.
- What was most useful?
- which content you found most useful (doesn’t have to be a complete module)
- which activities or tools helped you master this content most effectively
- How you will apply the concepts you identified as most useful?
- how will you apply what you learned into a workplace setting
- how will what you learned make you better employees
- How you will share the knowledge you found most useful?
- how might you share what you’ve learned with others in the company (knowledge transfer)
- how will you help others benefit from what you’ve learned
- What you recommend for inclusion in future training (content and/or activities)?
Your Team Must Choose the Report OR the Presentation Option
Report Option:
Your boss told you the report should be no more than four pages long. You want to be sure not to exceed that because the leadership team has several other items to consider at their meeting. It is also important the report display the techniques covered in the training program (effective writing skills, graphic highlighting, report formatting, etc.). Here (Links to an external site.) is a good source to explain more about report formats.
