you will read and summarize an article from a sociological journal. Once you have selected a journal, scan the articles published during the past two years. Select an article and read it carefully. Type a double-spaced three page summary of the article. The summary must include the following items in the order specified here: 1. Theory– State and summarize the theory. What question is being raised? Did the researcher(s) formulate the theory or use an existing theory? 2. Hypothesis–State the hypothesis(es). Specify the variables (independent and dependent). 3. Research Methodology–What research design did the researcher(s) use? How did the researchers collect the data? Source of the data–primary or secondary? Survey-interview or mail out questionnaire? Observations? Experiments? Case study? 4. Data Analysis–How did the author(s) analyze the data? What statistical technique was used? Regression? Analysis of Variance? Log linear? 5. Findings–What were the relationships of the variables? Was the hypothesis supported or rejected? What are some interpretations of the findings? 6. Conclusions–What are some answers that the researcher(s) reached? 7. Application of article: To which concept (s) covered in the course does the article apply and why?
