In a. 7, ad 3 Thomas adds something which might be surprising– given the statement from Aristotle in the sed contra that there’s basically no question about the union of soul and body, just as there isn’t with the wax and its shape– by noting that as actuality the form is distant from the matter as potentiality. Doesn’t this exacerbate (rather than solve) the problem of the union of soul and body?
