Musculoskeletal Injury Review Presentation.
For this assignment, you will review a variety of sources (at least four total) related to a specific athletic injury. You may use journal review articles and general reference websites (Mayo Clinic, WebMD, etc.) to gather background information, but at least one source must be an original research study from a peer-reviewed academic journal. The injury may involve trauma to any tissue related to movement (bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc.) and can be limited to a specific population if you so choose (i.e., high school athletes, children, older adults, etc.). The project should provide a synthesis of the information related to the injury along with directions for future research. Essentially, the presentation should explain what is currently known about the injury and identify questions that still need to be answered. The presentation should be in the neighborhood of 5-7 minutes and must be delivered as a voiceover PowerPoint file (or a similar presentation modality). This assignment is worth 40 points and will be evaluated using the following criteria: Delivery and clarity of the presentation 3 points Narration is clear and easy to understand Presentation is organized and flows well Professional appearance of the presentation, including: 3 points Proper spelling/grammar on slides; text is readily visible At least 1 image/figure to display information Educational content of the presentation, including: 14 points A description of the injury and its importance/prevalence The population of interest (if applicable) Common prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation methods Highlights from at least one original research study, including: 10 points Purpose of the study Participants involved and procedures used Key findings and author conclusions Suggestions for future research Usefulness of this information for movement practitioners 3 points References cited (both in text and with a reference slide at the end) 4 points using APA format Presentation completed within the suggested time frame 3 points
