Introduction According to Hill (2013), elderly people living in the nursing homes suffer less levels of depression than those living in their individual residences. This inference result from the observations derived from a series of studies conducted among the elderly people living in both the nursing homes and residences in the various parts of the world. It is, however, a fact that elderly people suffer a certain level of depression that is largely a characteristic of aging and one of the challenges of old age. The magnitude and levels of depression, however, differ significantly between the elderly people living in the nursing homes and those living in their residences mainly because of the environmental factors and economic survival, among other things.
