Struggle in America
The two scholarly reviewed articles I have chosen are: Revisiting the Black Struggle: Lessons for the 21st Century by Asafa Jalata and The Struggle Continues by Robble McCauley The scope of this assignment is small: 400-700 words, two articles. What that means is that, really, this is more like a compare/contrast essay. Everyone should have been taught how to write an essay in high school. In order to get into university, both the SAT and ACT require you to write an essay. What this means is that if you do not know how to write an essay, again, you need to remediate this deficiency. There is an internal structure to the assignment that should serve as a guide for how you approach writing it. For such a short essay, it is unlikely that your analysis of your articles will be very deep. This is fine. If I were giving you steps to follow, it would look like this: Write your introduction. Explain what your topic is, and why it is important. Then tell you readers what articles, or authors, you intend to discuss in the body of your essay. Your first body paragraph should introduce your first article. It should identify the argument being made by the author. It should give an assessment of the evidence the author uses to make their argument. The second body paragraph should do the exact same thing as the first, but for the second article. The third body paragraph (and, if your essay is longer, any following body paragraph) should include some sort of comparative analysis (i.e. compare/contrast) between the two articles you are reviewing. You should have a conclusion that ties into your introduction.
