The assignment is a written paper on a topic of concern in food quality. This topic may be something current, for example bacterial contamination of ground beef with E. coli O157:H7 in the US, or could be something of ongoing debate such as the controversy over the sale of unpasteurized (raw) milk, or something similar.
In order to ensure you are on the right track I would request that you email me your paper topic so that I may approve it prior to your start.
You are required to select three journal articles relating to your choice of topic. These must be from peer-reviewed journals and not magazine articles, or a page from a website or a brief review of a paper posted on a website. A paper copy of all three articles should accompany your finished paper.
The paper should include a clear, in-depth discussion of the topic; the reader should have a clear understanding about the topic and its pertinence to food quality after reading this section.
Are there any regulations in place regarding this topic, if so what are they, if not why not?
Regarding the three journal articles, you should briefly summarize each article in your own words outlining the important general details included in the article.
The articles should also be compared; are there similarities between the papers, are there differences? If there are differences can you rationalize why there might be differences?
Finally you should write about your personal thoughts on the topic. Again using raw milk sales as a topic example, are you for or against it? Provide support for your decision.
You should use in-text referencing for your paper. Obviously you will have three references for your articles but any other references utilized in development of your paper should be listed.
I will not specify a particular reference style to use but whichever style you use, please be consistent in its application
