Instructions for the assignment: Please produce a research-driven literature review in which you “discuss” (summarize, analyze/compare/group, evaluate) the arguments of six authors (or group of authors if a text is not single-authored). At least three of the authors must be authors discussed in class. Please follow the guidelines for the format and organization of the reviews: Format Font Times New Roman, size 12, 2.0 line spacing; style of references: APA (must be strictly enforced). Organization Your paper needs to consist of the three following parts: Research Question (max ½ page) Present the question and explain the relevance of the question for your own research or for the debates that we discussed in class Literature Review (5-6 pages): discuss the six authors in terms of the research question Conclusions and Agenda for Further Research (1 page) Elaborate on points that you found interesting and also identify aspects that have remained under-explored which deserve to be studied in more depth in a further study/analysis. Selection of Authors/Texts Feel free to select any combination of authors for your three research-driven literature reviews. You don’t need to select them from the same class session nor do you have to preserve the sequence in which we discuss the authors in class. For example, you can submit a review in September on a topic that we will only discuss in November. You may also submit three reviews on a similar topic, related to your own research focus. You are encouraged to work on a topic or topics that are closely related to your own research. However, authors discussed in this course must be given equal weight to authors which you have selected yourself. This is to ensure that you make use of our class readings and discussions. Evaluation Criteria for the Research-Based Literature Reviews quality of the selected texts (date, type, relevance for your research question) quality of the review (coherence; needs to be descriptive, analytical, interpretive) clarity of language organization of the paper and correct APA style of references
