Ultimately it seeks the development of strategic thinking and leadership. On successful completion of this unit students will be able to: Knowledge 1. Critically evaluate different approaches to Leadership with particular reference to Transform ational Leadership 3. T&LS Spring 201 4 6 Teaching and Learning Strategies Blended delivery: In this format students are provided with on line materials and activitie s in preparation for short intensive blocks of workshop activities. The workshops involve practical application of theories to develop understanding Typical Hours breakdown: Workshop 20, On Line Activity 10, Assignment 50, and Private Study 120 Assessment and Assessment Criteria Assessment will be by two equally weighted pieces of coursework and b oth assignments will be submitted electronically onto the Moodle site. [Assistance in what to do & how to do it will be available to students who have not used thi s procedure before] Assignment 1 (5 0%) LO 1, 2 & 7 In this assignment, the student is required to research and create a report that has a focus on developing thei r thinking strategically capability within the context of an organization. [ Where students do not have work experience ; are not currently employed ; or in their view, have insufficient familiarity with any organisation to enable them to complete the work satisfactorily, then an alternative theoretical report can be arranged . ] Assignment 2 (5 0%) LO 3 , 4, 5 & 6 In this assignment, the student is required to explore the published work on strategic leadership and develop a comprehensive inventory of qualities, skills and behaviours that define and explain the concept of strategic leadership. This invent ory should then be used as a basis of critically evaluating a case study individual as a strategic thinker and leader.
